BURLINGTON, Vt. -
Planned Parenthood threw its support behind Governor Peter Shumlin today.
Regional President Steve Trombley says Planned Parenthood is backing the Governor because he supports affordable and preventive health care for women.
"He has been a champion, a fighter for women's reproductive rights. He has been a fighter for access to contraception and family planning and he's been a fighter for the very ideal that Planned Parenthood was founded on... that it's the first right of every child to be wanted," Trombley said.
Trombley also said in the past two years Governor Shumlin's done more for Planned Parenthood than any other governor.
Governor Shumlin says he's proud of the endorsement.
