CHATEQUGAY, N.Y. -
In New York's North Country, construction has started on a 48 mile $41 million natural gas pipeline.
The gas transmission system will run from the town of Norfolk in St. Lawrence county to the Village of Chateaugay, N.Y. on the Canadian border in Franklin county.
Economists say the pipeline will give residents a cheaper energy alternative, keep jobs in the North Country and attract companies to the region.
