EDEN, Vt. -

Vermont State Police say one person is dead following a two-car collision in Eden, Monday morning.

Police say a woman, 25-year-old Ashley Allard, of Morrisville, was driving her car north on Route 100 when she crossed into the other lane and smashed head-on into a dump truck. She died at the scene.

The driver of the Whitcomb Construction dump truck, 46-year-old Valerie Hans, was not injured.

Speed appears to be a factor.

The road is currently closed between North Road, which is just north of the Boy Scout camp, and the Lowell town line.

The investigation is ongoing.
