(AP) - Vermont Gas is expanding natural gas service into the town of Richmond.
It's the latest community to be added to natural gas service by the company, which provides Vermont's only natural gas service to the northwestern part of the state.
Natural gas prices currently are low, and people able to switch to the fuel are finding it 40 percent cheaper than No. 2 heating oil and more than 50 percent cheaper than propane.
The addition of Richmond to the Vermont Gas system follows the extension of new gas lines to Hinesburg, Underhill and Jericho.
The company is planning to expand into Addison County by 2015.
