There is an effort to make sure first responders all across Vermont are trained to spot potentially dangerous meth labs.
A recent college grad was in for a surprise when he discovered $59,000 had been deposited into his bank account.
Jack Washburn is currently job hunting, so at first he thought maybe fate had brought him the mystery money.
The 21-year-old UVM alum admits for a split second he did think about keeping it. But then reality set in and he knew he had to do the right thing.
"It crosses everyone's mind in a situation like that to just take the money and run," Jack Washburn, Burlington, Vt. resident, said. "But, you have to realize that in the end they're going to find out the mistake and you are going to have to give that money back."
Washburn notified the bank and the mistake was corrected.
The bank said it was an error on their part.
The money actually belongs to a construction firm. The other account number is very similar to Washburn's and there is only a digit difference.
