The Cent Makes No Sense, VT Store Bans Pennies

MORRISVILLE, Vt. -

Don't bring your two cents if you're headed to one store in Morrisville, Vt.

Pennies are not being accepted or given out.

Power Play Sports is banning them.

Owner Caleb Magoon says the cent makes no sense!

And, so far, customers seem okay with rounding to the nearest nickel.

"It doesn't matter to them really," Caleb Magoon, Owner of Power Play Sports, said. "Check transactions, credit cards are the same, they still pay to the cent. On cash transactions, they are getting a few cents back and it saves them a few cents."

"I don't really want the pennies anyway," Jason Papadopoulos, Power Play Sports customer, said. "They jingle in my pocket and end up on my couch or on my rug and I go to pick them up when I vacuum."

The idea is not new. Canada already decided to end production of pennies.
