Vermont Man Accused of Crushing Cruisers Faces New Charge

Posted: Updated:
NEWPORT, Vt. -

A Vermont man charged with crushing seven vehicles with a tractor is facing a new charge.

Roger Pion, 34, of Newport, pleaded not guilty last month to 15 criminal charges.

Officials said Pion was angry over a recent arrest for resisting arrest and marijuana possession when he drove the tractor into the Orleans County sheriff's office parking lot and rolled it over six sheriff cruisers and a van.

According to defense lawyer David Sleigh, Pion is now facing a charge of driving with a suspending license—which stems from driving the tractor.

Pion was released from jail on August 30. Fox44 Reporter Jenny Day was there for his release and asked him if he had any regrets about what happened and he said no.

Pion is scheduled to be arraigned on the new charge next week.

David Sleigh is working to have the aggravated assault charge dropped because that carries the most time in prison. He also plans to ask the judge to dismiss seven additional counts for crushing each vehicle.
