BURLINGTON, Vt. -
The Burlington City Council heard from people about whether it should support a question to go on the November ballot which would ask people if they support legalizing marijuana and hemp.
Supporters say since a similar resolution failed years ago attitudes toward marijuana have changed.
"In the two years since that vote, we have seen a tectonic shift in the world toward legalization," says Albert Petrarca, resolution supporter.
During Monday's public comments, state representatives also spoke in favor of putting the resolution on the ballot.
They say it will help if the state legislature takes up the issue in the next session.
The city council voted in favor of putting the question on the November ballot.
