Vt. Officials: Aerial Mosquito Spraying in Rutland & Addison Counties To Continue Friday Night

Posted: Updated:
MONTPELIER, Vt. -

Vermont Health Department officials say aerial spraying in Rutland and Addison counties will be completed Friday night.

Spraying of the pesticide, Anvil 10+10 (Sumithrin), will be sprayed in a very low concentration from 7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Here is a list of safety precautions from the Vermont Health Department:

- Stay inside or away from the spraying area for about 30 minutes after the spray.

- Close windows and doors, turn off fans and outside vents before the spraying begins.

- Keep pets with their food and water inside.

- If you come into contact with the spray, rinse eyes with water immediately.

- Wash any exposed skin.

- Wash clothes that come in direct contact with the spray separately from other laundry.

- As always, consult your health care provider if you have health problems.

- For livestock, provide water only in a covered area, or empty and turn water troughs upside down. Do not refill them until the morning. Or cover water troughs for the night. Prevent livestock from grazing on exposed pastures during the night of spraying.

Officials say weather conditions Thursday made it impossible to fully complete the mosquito aerial spraying operation.
