A statewide disaster shelter iniative in Vermont kicks off Friday.
The American Red Cross of Vermont and New Hampshire created it to enhance preparedness in any future disasters.
The kick-off starts in Waterbury, Vt. at the Congregational Church.
Local volunteers will get proper training to open local Red Cross shelters quickly and efficiently when other assistance isn't available.
