President Obama: Keep Traveling the Recovery Road

Posted: Updated:
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -

President Barack Obama took the stage at the Democratic  National Convention late Thursday night.

He formally accepted his party's nomination for re-election. It was the Democrats' last chance to grab votes from the national convention stage.

The president hit back at Republicans who say things are not going well in America. Mr. Obama says the country has improved in many ways but conceded there is more work to do.

"I won't pretend the path I'm offering is quick or easy. I never have. You didn't elect me to tell you what you wanted to hear. You elected me to tell you the truth. And the truth is, it will take more than a few years for us to solve challenges that have built up over decades."

President Obama and Mitt Romney have scheduled appearances in New Hampshire on Friday.
