State Police say a Vermont bear hunter has reported that three hounds were stolen while they were tracking a bear in Stratton.
Russell Smith of Jamaica says he let his dogs out to track on Wednesday and that after about 10 minutes he detected interference on the GPS unit that was tracking the dogs and the unit then stopped working.
The three Plott hounds were last known to be together.
One dog is described as brindle with a white spot on the ear and chest, another is brown and white with brindle while the third is brown with tan around the mouth and on the chest.
Smith told police that he saw an older light green or blue Ford truck in the area with a dog cage in the back.
