Police Identify Man That Crashed Into Gates at Burlington International Airport

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. -

Police have identified the driver of the truck that crashed into gates the Burlington International Airport.

According to a press release, the operator of the 2008 Chevrolet Silverado was identified as Brent Rutledge, 39, of Winooski, Vt.

Police say Rutledge damaged a gate lock at the north end of Airport Drive. He then damaged two wooden swing gates at the Airport Parking garage.

Police say Rutledge appeared disoriented and distraught when they interviewed him. Rutledge is currently being held at Fletcher Allen Health Care for evaluation.

He is being charged with felony unlawful mischief and misdemeanor unlawful trespass.

The vehicle received moderate front end damage.

During the incident, the press release says, no airplanes were in motion during the time of the incident. Burlington International Airport is assessing the fencing for improvements.
