MONTPELIER, Vt. -
Vt. Gov. Peter Shumlin is planning to launch his first re-election campaign next week and he says he's looking forward to "five or six" debates with his Republican challenger.
But he says he can't participate in all the debates he might be invited to.
Shumlin made the comments Tuesday at a news conference before he headed off to the Democratic National Convention in North Carolina.
Shumlin participated in more debates two years ago when he was running for the open governor's seat, but he now says he has to balance the need to debate his need to run the state.
Shumlin is being challenged in the fall election by Republican state Sen. Randy Brock.
