9.3.12 Correction To A Previous Blog

Posted: Updated:

I must admit to my "oopsie" moments! And this is one. I did some math mid last week looking at average temperatures and possible records for this summer season. I posted a blog about my findings of what I had calculated to be the warmest meteorological summer on record. Oopsie...I definitely made a miscalculation somewhere along the way. I had calculated the average temp as 72.5 degrees, but really the number is supposed to be 70.9....that may not seem like much, but it is the difference between #1 warmest, and tied with #6 warmest in the year 1999.

My apologies for the poor math skills at the moment in time.

here's the breakdown by months:

Month      avg high        avg low

June          78.3            57.2

July           84.4             61.6

August      82.9             61.1

Here are some other data records for the summer season from the BTV NWS Climate page.
