MONTPELIER, Vt. -

(AP) - The federal agency responsible for staffing the nation's border crossings says there could be long lines at Vermont's border crossings with Quebec this weekend.

Monday is the Labor Day holiday in the United States, the traditional end of the summer travel season.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection Field Operations is reminding travelers planning cross-border trips this weekend to make sure they have the proper documents.

All people crossing the border need to present an approved travel document to enter the U.S. by land and sea.

Children under age 16 can present an original or copy of their birth certificate.

Travelers can also obtain local border traffic conditions by visiting the CBP website at www.cbp.gov.
