Vermonters at Republican National Convention

Posted: Updated:
TAMPA, Fla. -

In Tampa, Florida the party is ending and now 30 Vermonters will head back to the state ready to fight for their candidate.

They were there for Republican National Convention.

While the Vermonters admit it's likely Mitt Romney won't win their state, they still believe he's the right person to lead the country.

"I think the republicans that are here are feeling that republicans have a bright future," says Craig Bensen, the Vermont Delegation Chairman.

Bensen says one of the highlights of the convention was Ann Romney's speech and he says he also liked Vice Presidential Nominee Paul Ryan, who turned into the attack dog.

Bensen says the Romney-Ryan ticket satisfies all republicans, from Ron Paul supporters to the Tea Party.

"We recognize that the small differences that separate us are nothing compared to the huge gap between our ticket and the Obama ticket," says Bensen.

Bensen says the Vermont delegation leaves Tampa charged up and ready to fight until the November election.

"I think Mitt Romney will do better in Vermont than people are expecting," says Bensen.

To be clear, Bensen does not predict a Romney win in Vermont.  He just thinks President Obama will not win as big as some people might think.
