Sorrell says Campaign Revealed "Friends"

Posted: Updated:
BURLINGTON, Vt. -

For supporters of Bill Sorrell, Tuesday was a late and nervous night.

Never before had Sorrell had such a fight to keep his job as Attorney General.

"I really just want to say thank you so much," says Sorrell.

Those supporters had watched the results for Vermont's Attorney General's race soon after polls closed.  All night it was almost even between Sorrell and his challenger T.J. Donovan.

"You have run seven times successfully, easily winning. What's it like to watch the results and it's so close?" asked FOX 44/ABC 22.

"We expected, with a primary you can't predict," says Sorrell.

The 65-year-old has been Vermont's Attorney General for 15 years and he admits this was a tough campaign.

"In a fight like this you find out who your friends are," says Sorrell.

Sorrell decided to end his Primary Night Watch Party at 11:30pm with the results too close to call.
