BURLINGTON, Vt. -

Attorney General Bill Sorrell took to the streets Monday.

The democrat has been Vermont's top attorney for 15 years and now he's doing what can to hold onto that position.

"The honk and waves are 20 times more thumbs up than shaking of the head no," said Sorrell.

His opponent, Chittenden County State's Attorney TJ Donovan was busy too, but he choose to reach people a different way.

"I'm making calls. I'm looking for voters no matter where they are," said Donovan.

Although they had different tactics, both noticed voter confusion.

"A lot of people don't even know that there is a primary [Tuesday]. I'm still running into people today still asking me when the primary is," said Sorrell.

"Hey listen we've had one of the best summers on record here. It's been tough. It's tough to get people on the phone given that the weather has been so great," said Donovan.

During the campaign Sorrell has leaned his experience, and record, Donovan wants to bring fresh ideas to the office.

But after each vote is counted, both are happy about their primary race.

"I'm very proud of the campaign that I've run and I expect to have strong voter support [Tuesday]," said Sorrell.

"I think we've done everything we just about can do. We've out worked them, we've out organized them, we've out raised them," said Donovan.

Voting times vary Tuesday, but each polling location must be open by ten and you have until seven before they close.
