KEESEVILLE, N.Y. -
New York state police are investigating a homicide in Keeseville, New York along a usually quiet street. Police have not identified the man or whether or not there are any suspects yet.
But down a dead end road police found a man's body that to them there was no question about whether his death was an accident or not.
"It was evident he was the apparent victim of a homicide," New York state police Captain Robert LaFountain said.
Police discovered his body just after 6 A.M. this morning near the intersection of River Street and Mill Hill. New York state police are not releasing the man's name at this time or the nature of his death. An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow after the body was removed from this quiet neighborhood early this afternoon.
The body was found hear a bridge now closed two years ago to cars but not pedestrians. Neighbors say that they hardly ever see any traffic. That changed Sunday.
"Anything that happens down here everybody and there brother ends up down here," River Street resident William Dadds said.
Some Keeseville residents came down to look at the crime scene and police asked questions to some River Street neighbors about whether they heard anything but the answer was largely "no."
"I didn't even know it had happened until a certain party had called me on the phone," Dadds said.
There were not a lot of answers from police or residents about what took place. Investigators are keeping their search close to the chest as they try and piece together this homicide.
"Due to the sensitivity and nature of this investigation there are limited details we can provide," LaFountain said.
Police say they are likely to make an update in the investigation Monday afternoon.
