A landfall for Ernesto!
As of 10:15pm, Ernesto made landfall on the southern coast of the Yucatan Peninsula coast in Mexico. The center made landfall near Mahahual Mexico with tropical storm wind speeds reaching from central Belize to Cozumel, Mexico.
Ernesto will weaken rapidly as it moves over land tonight, but as it emerges back into the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico, Ernesto may once again strengthen to a weak Category 1 hurricane by Thursday before it makes another landfall in central Mexico early Friday. (See images to the left).
