Second Moretown, Vt. House Fire Intentionally Set, First Fire Still Being Investigated

MORETOWN, Vt. -

Fire officials determine a second fire at the same house in Moretown, Vt. was intentionally set. The first fire is still being investigated.

According to a press release, firefighters were called to the scene on Dean's Mountain Road around 10:30 p.m. on July 28 and stayed for four hours to make sure the fire did not rekindle.

Around 3:30 a.m. on July 29, firefighters were called to the same house where they found the opposite end of the house on fire. The press release states that as firefighters began fighting the second fire, they discovered a propane tank valve was turned on. Firefighters turned the valve off before they left from the first fire.

No one was injured as a result of the fires. Damage is estimates is expected to be more than $450,000.

The State Police is asking anyone with information to call the Vermont Arson Tip Award Program at 1-800-32 ARSON (up to a $5,000.00 reward) or the Middlesex State Police Barracks.
