SARANAC LAKE, N.Y. -
A North Country man wants to convert a vacant car wash into a brewery.
Saranac Lake Village leaders say Mark Gillis wants to put the microbrewery at the former Carcuzzi Car Care Center on Lake Flower Avenue.
Gillis will present his business proposal to the planning board in two weeks.
For some people putting in a brewery inside a former car wash is an interesting concept.
"I think it would be a great idea because I mean it's an empty building and I think he would get a lot of business over there," said Tyler Trombley.
If approved, Gillis will still need to get state permits for opening a brewery.
He hopes to have it open by this fall.
Village leaders say the car wash has been vacant for a year.
