If you're a moose hunter in Vermont, this may have been your lucky day. The 20th Annual Moose Hunting Permit Lottery was held Thursday.
10,000 people applied but only a few hundred hunters will get their chance. This year for only the second time, archers will get 50 permits too.
There are 3,000 moose in Vermont and the goal is to strike a balance between over-population and what the land can provide.
"We can know by the number of permits how many moose will be taken the whole goal is to steady the herd in the state," Mark Scott with the Vermont Fish and Wildlife said.
