'Bath Salts' in System of Driver in Triple Fatal

BOLTON, Vt. -

A toxicology report has revealed that ‘bath salts' were in the system of a driver involved in a fatal accident that killed him and two other people.

In Montpelier Thursday, Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin said Jason Potvin, 29, had ‘bath salts' in his system.

In early May, Jason Potvin, along with April Otis, 29, and 8-month-old Hunter Potvin, all of Williamstown, were killed when the car he was driving on Interstate 89 went off the road, crossed the median and crashed head-on into an oncoming pickup truck. It happened in the Bolton area.

Shumlin also mentioned Thursday that authorities want to pursue criminal charges in the matter. Fox44's Jenny Day asked the governor to elaborate, however, he would not.

The two adults were not wearing seatbelts, police said. Authorities also say that appears that the infant's car seat was not properly installed in the vehicle.

The driver of the truck, who was wearing a seatbelt, was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
