A group that supports the continued operation of the Vermont Yankee nuclear plant says Vermont may have work to do to meet its demand for electricity in 2016.
The Vermont Energy Partnership says the state's utilities are expected to have commitments for just 60 percent of the power the state needs in four years.
The Partnership says the utilities likely will be forced to fill the gap with purchases of power from the New England power grid, which relies heavily on fossil fuel for generation.
It says nuclear power will comprise a little more than 12 percent of the total power in 2016, compared to about 32 percent prior to 2012.
