ROCKINGHAM, Vt. -

Police say a man is in stable condition after he intentionally drove his car 200 feet down a gorge.

Vermont State Police say Gregory Picz, 38, totaled his Ford Explorer in the process Sunday night. They say he drove alongside the railroad tracks into the Brockways Mills Gorge in Rockingham.

Police say he was able to climb out of the car through a window and climb up the gorge to a nearby home where he asked for help.

Picz was cited for driving under the influence.
