Doctors: Texting Could Cause Be Harmful to Your Health

COLCHESTER, Vt. -

Some new data shows that texting is on the rise and it could be harmful to your health.

It seems teenagers and young adults are texting all the time.

New data shows teenage girls between 13 and 17 send and receive an average of 4,000 texts per month. For teenage boys, it's an average of 2,500 texts per month.

Young adults, ages 18 to 24, exchange about 1,600 texts per month.

Doctors are not calling this carpal tunnel.

"The doctor said wear the brace for four weeks and then if it doesn't feel any better, then I might have to get surgery," Hayle Krigel, patient who has carpal tunnel, said.

Some doctors would argue that texting can cause repetitive stress syndrome, which is like tendonitis, not carpal tunnel.
