Man Rescued from Bolton Potholes Tuesday Afternoon

Posted: Updated:
BOLTON, Vt. -

A close call Tuesday afternoon at the Bolton potholes after a man was swept away by strong currents.

Scott Posner, 21, of South Burlington, Vt., got stuck in what's called the "top hole," a very turbulent spot.

Posner was able to hold onto a ledge until rescue crews arrived. He was caught in a whirlpool for about 15 minutes before helped arrived.

Crews say they threw him a life jacket and were able to rescue him using a ladder.

Posner was not hurt.

"Luckily, this guy made it. He's in the hole where people usually don't make it," Mike Gervia, Bolton Fire Chief said.

Gervia said this is no place to swim after heavy rain.
