Police say a Vermont prison inmate has been charged with assaulting a correctional officer.
Police say 33-year-old Vincent Herring is accused of simple assault at the Southern State Correctional Facility in Springfield.
The incident happened Friday. Herring is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 28.
