PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. -
The Plattsburgh City Police Department is installing a permanent drug drop box for citizens to dispose unwanted, unused or expired prescription drugs.
According to a press release, the Plattsburgh Police Department signed the "New York Medication Drop Box Program Statement Agreement" with the New York State Department of Health back in March.
The collection site will be located in the lobby of police headquarters located at 45 Pine St., Plattsburgh, N.Y.
The press release says all items surrendered will be destroyed at a municipal solid waste combustion facility that has been approved by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
