National Ice Cream Day

BURLINGTON, Vt. -

Today is the perfect day for a cold yummy treat and there's an extra excuse to grab one. It's national ice cream day. Here in the 802 ice cream is done a little differently. I was walking in downtown Burlington and everywhere I looked people were enjoying their creemees. It's one of those things that make Vermont special. So what makes national ice cream day special for ice cream specialists?

When I walked into The Village Scoop today to ask Nicole Lafao and Andrew Laplant what they were doing for national ice cream day there was a small shock for them.

"We had no idea," Lafao said.

"But we're glad it is."

That's because almost every summer day in Vermont is good enough for a creemee. Some of The Village Scoop's adoring customers let them know on facebook that they were doing a good job of making it happen.

"We're quick. Everyone loves how friendly everyone here is and we all enjoy our jobs," Lafao said.

With all the positive responses this ice cream shop got we decided to ask you Vermont. Is there such a thing as a bad creemee experience?

"Never had a bad creemee experience before," Dan White said.

"I don't think I have. I think this is probably one of the best," Brock Bell said while admiring the maple creemee in his hand.

On her fist day ever in Vermont, Slovakia native Maria Sophia could even appreciate the special sweetness of a maple masterpiece.

"It's super cool and super tasty," Maria said.

No one here needs a national ice cream day to enjoy a lip licking Vermont specialty.
