PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. -
Three men have been charged with attempted gang assault, that's left one man injured. Andrew Finney was slashed across the eye with a box cutter. The court papers in the arraignment of Marcus Taylor, James Lawson and Clyde Lee said that Finney had bough heroine from Taylor before.
Andrew Finney told police he was sitting at Rumors bar when the three men called out to him from across the street. When Finney walked over to meet them he noticed them getting ready to fight. When he asked if it was going to be a thee on one fight Taylor said, "It is what it is homie. You're (expletive) done."
That's when Taylor reached out at him and punched him with a box cutter. Finney was cut above the left eye before police arrived around 12:30 am. They arrested Taylor, Lawson, and Lee. The three were charged with felony attempted gang assault in the Plattsburgh city court this morning.
The drug related fight that happened right outside Rumors is actually right next door to Plattsburgh Internal Medicine which stopped prescribing opiate drugs like pain killers because of an addiction problem it sees right outside its door on Margaret street
"With the drugs, transactions it's common knowledge that there's a lot of drugs on Margaret street," MD Jay Bhasin said.
Some people looking to fuel an addiction have come to his office looking for prescription pain killers which have a similar high to drugs like heroine.
"We've had to call city police some time to actually have help us remove some patients from the office," Bhasin said.
"Because they will not leave until they get what they want."
His staff has even been faced with the problem outside of the office.
"I had a female approaching me asking me if I had heroine and I was shocked," Tammy Welch said.
Finney told police he quit doing heroine but this is an example of side effect he had no control over.
