Vermont Labor Leaders Put Amusement Ride Companies on Notice

MONTPELIER, Vt. -

The Vermont Department of Labor is putting amusement park companies on notice this summer: have proper workman's comp or get in trouble.

Last summer, a Castle Rock Amusements employee was killed at the Lamoille County Field Days.

Labor leaders say that company did not have proper workman's comp.

Labor Commissioner Annie Noonan says it's a priority to make sure all employees are properly covered.

"Fair and field days are wonderful events; they're great tourist's events. Communities and the citizens love them but we want to make sure that people are safe," said Noonan.

Noonan says this summer there have been no violations.

The case against the amusement company accused of not having workman's comp is still pending.
