RUTLAND, Vt. -
Vermont State Police troopers have come to the aid of several hikers.
In Woodford, 70-year-old Michael McEnteggart of Florida called police after getting lost the Long Trail on Tuesday. State troopers and Bennington Rural Fire and Rescue organized search teams. But before they were far into the woods, McEnteggart was able to find his way out. He was dehydrated, but otherwise fine. Police said he was not properly clothed or equipped to spend a long time in the woods.
Police also helped a husband and wife who got lost around the Lefferts Pond Trail in Chittenden. The couple from the Caribbean ended up on a snowmobile trail, where troopers picked them up.
