BURLINGTON, Vt. -
After complaints of racial problems at Burlington High School, the district's superintendent says she has taken a step to help fix those issues.
On Monday, Henri Sparks was named the equity director for Burlington Schools.
The district says he will respond to harassment and discrimination complaints. He'll also monitor those issues and provide help.
"I would say we have a lot of challenges. I would not say that we have any that are insurmountable. I would say some of the challenges we face, we're going to work closer with the community," says Sparks.
In April, racism at the high school became a major issue after students complained about harassment. They also brought their concerns to the Vermont legislature.
