BURLINGTON, Vt. -

Gasoline prices in Burlington, Vt. exceed Federal Trade Commission computer model projections.

According to a press release, data turned over to U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) indicated gasoline prices in Burlington, Vt. in June were as much as a dime to 43 cents greater than what the FTC computer model said they should be.

"Prices here in the Burlington area and other parts of Vermont are much higher than they should be," Sanders said. "So far, no one has given me a particularly good explanation."

Burlington is one of 360 metropolitan areas that the FTC's Bureau of Economics tracks to compare and track prices.

The press release says that the monitoring project tracks wholesale and retail prices of gasoline. The model's formula considers supply and demand, geography and other factors.
