WILLISTON, Vt. -

It's America's birthday, and people all across the country are celebrating our nation's independence.

Hundreds of Vermonters showed their support at the annual 4th of July parade in the Town of Williston. Emergency responders marched, as well as politicians looking for your vote in November. Those throwing candy were crowd pleasers, and for Williston resident Rosemary Burroughs, it's her tenth year at the parade and her time to show her appreciation to our troops.

"I like to support the veterans and the guys overseas, you know, they do a lot for us and this is one way we can show our respect to them too," Burroughs said.

The festivities continue with fireworks starting around 9:30 tonight at the Allen Brook School in Williston.
