New York State Police are investigating a drowning off Valcour Island in Peru, N.Y.
Police say around 5:30 p.m., Marius D'Eschambeault, 57, of Granby, Quebec, did not resurface when he went underwater to check the anchor of the sailboat he was on.
The coast guard was called out to take him to shore, where he was taken to CVPH Medical Center. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
An autopsy is scheduled Monday.
