BRISTOL, Vt. -
On hot days, for many Vermonters, there is nothing better than a creemee.
While it's an institution in Vermont, the debate rages over which is the best creemee stand in the state and even how to spell creemee.
We traveled to the Village Creeme Stand in Bristol, which the owner says at one pointed was voted the best in the state.
Tom Wallace and his wife have co-owned it for thirty-years. Wallace says not a lot has changed here.
"We use 5-percent butter fat in our creemee mix," says Wallace.
Now there is a technique to create the perfect creemee.
"The first time I made a creemee it was pretty much perfect. Then my second, third, fourth, fifth, up until my twentieth were just awful," says Will Smith, a stand employee.
While the flavors change and are up to you, Wallace says the creemee, whatever the spelling, is here to stay in Vermont.
"I don't see it ever going away," says Wallace.
We asked people on Facebook to name their favorite creemee stand in Vermont.
Here is the ranking, based on the number of comments.
1. Dairy Creme, Montpelier
2. Dari Joy, Bellows Falls
3. Devyns, Sheldon
4. Goodies, Addison
