Bears have been spotted wandering around in Essex.
Essex Police say several neighbors have seen them in their backyards. Susan Wood has lived in a neighborhood in Essex for more than 20 years, and she's never seen a bear, but she did wake up to her bird feeder destroyed.
She blamed vandals at first, but says it could be a bear because her backyard backs right up to the woods.
"I'm surprised that there would be a bear that size in this neighborhood because the bird feeder that we had was torn, it was bent right over," Susan Wood said.
Police suggest keeping trash inside, grills clean and bringing pet food and bird feeders inside.
