JAY, N.Y. -

Last year's historic flooding left much of the Adirondacks damaged.

Officials in Jay, N.Y. are trying to get federal help to pay for Tropical Storm Irene debris and cleanup along the Ausable River.

According to the Adirondack Daily Enterprise, FEMA refuses to pay because the debris isn't a public safety risk.

The Jay Town Supervisor says the enormous piles of rocks and trees are a costly problem for towns like Jay and Keene.

Jay has already borrowed about $3 million since Irene hit and the town can't afford another loan.
