BURLINGTON, Vt. -
At a hearing in federal court on Friday, Federal Judge William Sessions scheduled a trial date for Michael Jacques: September 3, 2013.
Jacques, 46, who is a convicted sex offender, is accused of kidnapping, raping and killing his 12-year-old niece Brooke Bennett in 2008. Her body was found a mile from his home in Randolph.
Federal prosecutors are seeking the death penalty against Jacques.
Jacques' lawyer had no comment following Friday's hearing.
Sessions said the trial is expected to last four months, and that will include jury selection.
