ST. ALBANS, Vt. -
Five suspects were arrested Thursday as a result of the St. Albans police investigation into the death of Chris Davis, who was found dead in a swimming pool April 16.
None of the suspects are charged with killing Davis, only that they assaulted and robbed him. The developments were hard for Davis' family and friends to watch from the Franklin County courthouse.
Samamnthajo Assisi was Davis' girlfriend. She's also the mother of their two year-old daughter Lillian Grace…who she says looks just like him.
"I feel so bad for her," Assisi said as she battled back tears.
"That was his everything. He loved that baby so much."
Four of the five suspects arrested made their appearance in court today. Police say Travis Bugbee and Brian Ross lured Davis to the St. Albans swimming pool on March 21.
That's where police say they assaulted and robbed him, but there's no evidence they killed him.
Joshua Fortine is charged with possessing and selling Davis' stolen debit card. Stephen Wells is charged with buying and selling the card to his mom, Ann Wells, who also faces charges.
"They're just getting simple assault and robbery, not murder," Assisi said.
"So pretty much justice isn't even being served. Nobody's getting charged with murder."
Even though Assisi is upset with the charges she said that she needed to come to their court hearing and she'll keep coming in the future.
"I want to see it," Assisi said.
"I want to see them get thrown in jail. I want…I don't know."
Neither Assisi or St. Albans police know exactly how Davis ended up dead in the swimming pool but the investigation is ongoing
