Gadue's Dry Cleaning Joins Nationwide Hanger Recycling Effort

BOSTON -

The largest dry cleaning company in the state is joining a nationwide recycling effort.

The goal is to have 25 million fewer hangers end up in landfills this year.
And Gadue's Dry Cleaning has set their own goal at 200,000.
They plan to make this happen by asking customers to bring in unused hangers and even the plastic that's used to wrap the garments, and then they'll re-use or recycle what's donated.
Gadue's goes through about 5,000 hangers each week, so they hope this initiative helps reduce the industry's carbon footprint.

"It's important to me, this is my family's business, we've been in business since 1975, I'm the third generation and I want to be doing this for the next 30 years," Gadue's Dry Cleaning President, Aline Gadue Stirling said.

A recent report reveals the cost of wire hangers is going up, but Gadue's says with the money they'll save from recycling hangers, the cost of getting your clothes dry cleaned will not go up.
