Vt. Man Accused of Fatally Shooting Friend Will Be Sentenced Tuesday

BENNINGTON, Vt. -

A Vermont man, who believed he was a holding an air gun when he fatally shot his sleeping friend, will be sentenced Tuesday.

Nicolas Bell, 25, pleaded no contest to manslaughter, simple assault with a weapon, and reckless endangerment.

Police say, on Thanksgiving Day 2010, Bell took a .22 caliber rifle and shot 24-year-old Jeffrey Charbonneau in the chest, thinking it was an air gun.

He's expected to get a year in prison.
