The state of New York says, it paid millions of dollars last year in interest for late payments to vendors.
It added up to almost $2 million. That's up 40% since last year.
State officials say, that's a waste of taxpayer dollars.
The Department of Health and the State University system paid the most, followed by the Department of Transportation.
