New York Senator Chuck Schumer wants to promote the New York's maple syrup industry.
Schumer says, nearly three quarters of the tappable maple trees are on private property in the state.
Just last week, the senate approved legislation creating grants to encourage private property owners to expand their tapping operations or make their land available for tapping.
The house is expected to take up the bill next month.
