ST. ALBANS, Vt. -
Millions of people are walking for a cure, to end the fight against cancer this weekend.
All across the nation and even right here in Vermont, people took part in the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life.
We first told you about Chittenden county's successful event last night, and now today, Franklin county residents were gearing up for theirs. Hundreds of people will walk around the track for twelve hours, symbolizing that they will not stop walking until there's a cure for the deadly disease.
For many, it's an emotional event, there's a special lap to honor cancer survivors and their caregivers and a moment of silence for the ones who lost their battle. But organizers say the Relay For Life is mostly about hope.
"It's celebrate, remember and fight back, so this gives us a chance to do our part in trying to make a difference in the fight against cancer," Co-Chairs of the Franklin County Relay For Life, Dena St. Amour and Trudy Cioffi said.
The Franklin county Relay For Life has doubled in the last year, it goes until six Sunday morning, so there's still time if you want to be a part of the event.
All of the money raised will go toward cancer research and early detection awareness.
