Friday Night Live Starts in Rutland, Vt.

RUTLAND, Vt. -

Hundreds of people turned out for the first of this summer's Downtown Rutland Friday Night Live.

If you missed it, there are still many more to come.

After six-years, organizers say Friday Night Live gets better and bigger every year.  That's good news for people and businesses in Rutland.

There was music, activities and of course food.

Downtown Rutland Partnership executive director Michael Coppinger says normally there is nothing like this in Rutland.

"What we try to do is we try to have an open air market here on Center Street, invite the merchants, invite the restaurant owners to come out on the street," says Coppinger.

That's exactly what the staff at Sabby's did.

"We have 15 tables outside at night and we can hold, I didn't count it up exactly, 50 or so people our there," says Chuck Wilton, Sabby's manager. "We love Friday Night Live's because it boosts our business obviously."

Organizers expect up to 1,000 people for each Friday Night Live, especially if more Friday's have the weather like this one.

"A great way to kick off the summer," says Coppinger.

Friday Night Live runs the next seven weeks on Friday's, from 6:00pm to 10:00pm, on Center Street.
